Natural, Heartfelt Wedding Photography in Derbyshire
Hey, I’m David, a wedding photographer based in Belper, Derbyshire, and I’m here to tell your wedding story in the most natural and heartfelt way possible.
I work with couples who want to feel completely at ease on their wedding day, with no stiff poses and no pressure. My approach is all about genuine moments, real emotions and a touch of creative guidance when needed to create those magical images, from sparkler exits and champagne sprays to beautiful first looks.
While you’re busy soaking up every second of your day, I’ll be there quietly capturing everything as it naturally unfolds.
From our first conversation, my goal is to make you feel comfortable and supported. I take the time to get to know you as people, not just clients, so that when your wedding day arrives it feels more like having a friend behind the camera than a stranger giving instructions.
I keep things calm and easy-going, gently guiding when needed while giving you the space to enjoy the real story as it unfolds. It’s about creating room for connection and joy, so your photographs don’t just look beautiful, they feel like you.
I’m always watching for the little things too. A glance between you during the vows, a guest wiping away a tear or the cheeky kids dancing before the music even starts. These fleeting moments and details can easily go unnoticed, but they often become the photographs you return to again and again, bringing all the emotion of your wedding day rushing back.
Outside of photography, I live in Belper with my wife Michelle, our two sons and Tucker, our very hairy Patterpoo. We rescued Tucker in 2021 and he has brought plenty of noise, mess and joy into our lives. His chaotic personality also inspired my dog photography brand, DK9 Photography, where I capture the unique personalities of four-legged family members.
I’ve loved Lego since I was a child and still enjoy building something brick by brick when I need to switch off. I’m also a big fan of a packed dance floor, especially when Mr Brightside comes on, although I promise to leave the singing to everyone else!
My happy place is simple: fresh air, a camera in hand and no pressure to perform. I love noticing light, movement and the little moments as they unfold, whether I’m photographing a wedding or capturing the personality of a much-loved dog.
Choosing a wedding photographer is about more than simply liking their work. You’re inviting someone into one of the most meaningful days of your life, someone who will be there through the quiet moments, the nerves, the laughter and everything in between. My aim is to be a calm, friendly presence throughout the day while creating natural, authentic photographs that bring those feelings back for years to come.
