Hi, I'm Paul 👋, a photographer based in Chichester, West Sussex, England, available for photography services across the surrounding areas.
Harbours are places of safety. They are also busy workshops, wildlife refuges and simply the places where I love to stand - or sit - and stare.
Serene or stormy, peaceful or dramatic, I love harbours, particularly those found along the South Coast of England.
From the shore, I feel the impact of the wind and tide and seek to capture the atmosphere and energy that make these places so captivating. From the water, I experience an entirely different world, one that offers a fresh perspective on the coast and the people who live and work around it.
My connection with the sea began in childhood, sailing dinghies before progressing to racing and later navigating cruising yachts and motor boats. Those experiences have given me an understanding of what matters when creating a maritime photograph. It isn't simply about capturing the facts of a scene, but the feelings it evokes - from calm and delight to excitement and even terror.
Years behind the camera have taught me that the right moment will come. When it does, I believe in having the patience and courage to recognise it, capture it and preserve it forever.
My aim is to create photographs that convey not only what I saw, but what I felt - images that allow those emotions and experiences to be shared with the people who matter most.
